About Aarani Thanya Kandeepan, M.D.
Dr. Aarani Kandeepan is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Â鶹¸ßÇå and an Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Kandeepan obtained her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 2018 after completing her Masters in Infectious Diseases at Georgetown University. She then completed her General Pediatrics training at State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. Subsequently her fellowship training in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine was completed at the University of Maryland Medical Center where she served as Chief Fellow in her last year of training.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kandeepan’s research interests focus on resuscitation medicine, simulation, and global health. She has successfully developed simulation programs at both academic and community hospitals aimed at enhancing high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation metrics as well as addressing barriers to participation in simulation training. Dr. Kandeepan also served as the lead fellow for the Pediatric Resuscitation Committee and the Quality and Safety Committee as well as playing a key role in creating post-arrest management guidelines for her institution during her fellowship. Dr. Kandeepan is the recipient of the President Global Impact Fund through the University of Maryland where she is currently leading the development of a virtual simulation program in Lusaka, Zambia, designed to improve CPR metrics and enhance critical care knowledge in low-resource settings.
