Personal Statement

My approach to treating patients is to provide individualized care with a multidisciplinary approach. Endocrine disorders require collaboration with radiologists, endocrinologists and endocrine surgeons which I am able to facilitate in a timely manner to provide the best clinical outcomes for my patients. My experience at New Presbyterian Hospital and Cornell has allowed me to develop professional relationships with colleagues whom I can collaborate with to ensure the highest quality of care.

I am passionate about educating my patients and raising awareness in the community on prevention, screening and treatment of thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal disorders. My goal is to improve upon the early detection of endocrine disorders and improve a patient’s quality of life through prevention and negative sequalae of uncontrolled disease.

Biographical Info

Erin Hassett, ANP-BC is a Nurse Practitioner at Â鶹¸ßÇå in Endocrine Surgery. She is a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, earning her Master's of Science degree in 2009 from New York University. Erin Hassett runs the Adrenal Nodule Clinic which is a unique program designed to expedite the work-up of adrenal nodules found incidentally on imaging studies done for other purposes. This includes guiding patients through necessary bloodwork and integrating collaborative evaluations with Endocrine Surgeons, Endocrinologists and Radiologists when appropriate. Erin will assess patients for functioning, verse non-functioning nodules and stratify the risk of them being cancerous or benign.

In addition to the Adrenal Nodule clinic, Erin runs the Endocrine Tumor surveillance program, which includes monitoring low-risk thyroid cancer patients undergoing active surveillance instead of surgery. Studies have shown papillary thyroid cancers are slow growing and a sub-set of patients can be safely monitored, avoiding surgery.  After patients are deemed candidates for surveillance by our Endocrine Surgeon’s patients will have biannual follow up with Erin to monitor for stability.

For patients requiring adrenal, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, Erin will facilitate surgical planning and provide long-term follow up care.  Erin works closely with her colleagues and patients to make sure all patients' needs are met.
