Dr. Spigland is chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery and Chief of Pediatric Trauma. She is a Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Department of Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and an Attending Surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is also the Associate Director of medical student education for the Department of Surgery. Dr. Spigland is board certified in both General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Spigland specializes in neonatal congenital malformations, pediatric thoracic surgery, pediatric surgical oncology and advanced minimal access surgery. Dr. Spigland maintains a busy clinical practice, and has a strong interest in clinical pediatric surgical research. She has authored or co-authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, and serves as a reviewer for the American Journal of Perinatology, the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Spigland has been repeatedly recognized by Castle Connolly as one of "America's Top Doctors" and "America's Top Doctors for Cancer," by New York Magazine as one of New York's "Best Doctors," by US News and World Report as "America's Top Doctors", in the top 1% of all physicians in the country, and as a "New York SuperDoctor", an honor given to just 5% of all New York physicians. In addition, Dr. Spigland is in Marquis Who's Who in America, and received a Compassionate Doctors Award, an honor accorded to just 3% of doctors in America.
